Our Story . . .

Scantic River Productions began with a song and a dream in the sober days of 2020— How could we bring theatre to people in a new way? Founders Colby J. Herchel and Madelyn Wiley brought together Nathanael Taylor, Olivia Opal, and Kelly Oostman to lead a banner year of virtual cabarets, play readings, and even films to get off the ground.

Now, a few years on, and with a few new friends along the way— We’ve cultivated a community of artists of all shapes: Actors, Writers, Musicians, Visual Artists, Audio Engineers, Costume Designers, Photographers, Producers, Lighting Designers, Intimacy Coordinators, Choreographers, Composers, Film Directors, and most importantly Rebels to build our own Merry Band of Misfits.

Our grand discovery so far? No story or piece of art fits into one box. We have found our greatest strength is allowing art to flourish in whatever medium it belongs in that day, be it stage, screen, audio, or workshop. The rule? Water every flower and let it grow in its own way.
